Refurbishing a listed building calls for skill and absolute sensitivity. The former barracks dating from 1910 are now a modern hotel, located right on the lakeside promenade with spacious rooms; the balconies on the lake side have been restored and new buildings for the wellness zone enclose the inner courtyard towards the street. A historic part of the building was classed as a "palace hotel" even then, and is now located in a unit with the contemporary extensions - the sought-after location with a view of the Kunsthaus Bregenz and the Swiss bank still remains fascinating at any time.
